  1. Up to sixty years ago medical doctors were rarely employed to attend people suffering from diseases.
    To cure whooping cough ferret's leavings were taken by children which was thought to stop them from kinking.
    The seventh son (or daughter) is believed to cure ring worm by touching the affected part with his (or her) hand. When the seventh son (or daughter) is born a worm is put into its hand. The worm will then die and the person is said to have the cure.
    A person born after his (or her) father's death is thought to be able to cure
