  1. There is a fairy fort in our school district. Once upon a time fairies were seen in it but not now. The fort is situated in the townland of Cloontycarn. It is circular in shape. No one ever tried to get a crop off it as it is supposed to be unlucky to take anything from the fairies There is another fort about two miles to the west of Gurteen and stones were taken from it to build a barn. When it was built however, the supervisor came to look at it and when he went inside the walls were covered with
