  1. Marriages, in nearly the whole of Ireland, usually take place during a time which the country people call the "Seraft". This time is also also called "Shrove - tide" which begins on the 6th of January, and lasts until Ash Wednesday The month of May is thought an unlucky month for marriage, while it is said, that the month of June for marriage.
    The following verse tells the lucky and unlucky days for marriage,
    "Monday for health,
    Tuesday for wealth,
    Wednesday the best day
