  1. It was in the middle of January in the year 1925 when a storm like "The Big Wind" swept this locality and caused damage and destruction for miles around. The first rumbling of the storm was heard early in the morning when suddenly the wind began to wail around the gables and whistle determinedly through the key- holes of the closed doors. Suddenly doors were banged open with the force of the wind, windows were shattered and chimney pots were torn out of the roofs of houses
