- There is only one holy-well in our parish. It is situated in the parish of Kilfree and in the town-land of Cuilmore, Gorteen, Co. Sligo in the barony of Coolavin. People visit it on pattern day which is on the fifteenth of august and pray there and make the stations of the cross on a seven Dolor beads.
It is called St. Patricks well because when he was on his way to Croagh Patrick he prayed at the well and drank some water from it. The track of his toes is there still in the stone beside the well. Not many invalids come to the well but nearly all the people that come to the well drink some of the water. No one bathes in the well now.
Some bits of broken bottles are left at the well and some very rich people hide money near the well. There is one fish supposed to(continues on next page)- Collector
