    then to measure but at present they only do repairs. A few people in this district wear clogs but some years ago they were more commonly used as footwear. At one time a "clogger" lived in a neighbouring district but now there is nobody who is able to make clogs.
    Marg and Benson,
    In former times peoppe s eldom wore shoes except pn certain occasions, for instance, to marg and to town. When they were going on a journey they carried their shoes in their hands when they came near the end of the journey they stopped to put on theur shoes. Therefore shoes lasted a long time in those days. Also during this time the same boots were worn by more than one member of the family. The children of those times never wore a shoe either in winter or in summer.
