  1. I heard the following from my father whose name is James Benson.
One field of my father's farm is known as Cross. On the top of this hill there was a cross erected in olden times. A little farther down there is a hill called Knocknecroy, (Cnoc-na-Croice) which means the hill of the gallows, some people maintain this the condemned people were allowed to pray at the cross on thier way to execution.
    Margaret Benson,
    Cross, Keash,
    Ballymote, Co. Sligo.
