  1. Brian Brehony of Carrowreagh, Keash, Ballymote, was a champion weight thrower. He lived about seventy five years ago.
    At Castlebaldwin there was a competition held on the 24th of June and all the strong men met for weight throwing. On one occasion there were a lot of people assembled to see the competion. several strong men threw the half hundred weight a great distance and Brian Brehony taking the weight threw it some feet beyond their marks. They all threw again and some man beat Brehony's mark by about five feet. Brehony took the weight again and looking at the other man's best throw he threw it across the heads
