  1. The most convenient fair is Ballymote. Sometimes the jobbers go around to the houses and buy pigs from the farmers. This is not carried on now.
    In recent years fairs held which now discontinued They are Castlebaldwin and Templehouse and Tobberscanlon. Castlebaldwin is in the neighbourhood of an old castle. There was once a gentle-man who came to Tobbescanlon who wished to find out the honesty of the people. He left twenty sovereigns on a bridge there, and when he went back that day twelve-months he got it there.
    The fair for young cattle is held on the street.
