  1. The food in olden times was not at all like the food of today.
    The people lived mostly on potatoes and buttermilk and the time of the famine the potato crop failed so the people died from hunger also so this proves that they lived on potatoes.
    The people also used to make boxty, griddle-cakes, potatoes, cakes, and Indian meal porridge.
