the top of the milk, and churn it, and other people put cream and all in.
It takes an hour to churn, if there is only cream in it, it only takes a half hour.
There are some superstitions told about churning.
People say that when any person comes into the house when they are churning, they should take a dreas, and it is said also that they would bring the butter away with them.
No one should put out the ashes, while the churning is going on. If anyone goes out they say, they bring the butter with them. It is said that a man and a woman in the district of Emlaghfad were churning one day. A man came in to the house to light his cigarette, then he walked out and never took the dash in his hand to help the man or the woman.
