    a dog's lick, if you rub a black snal on a wart it will cure it, a fox's tongue will draw a thorn. The old people of this district a great number of cures for a toothache. It is cured by putting nitre, washing-soda, mustard, or Sloan's Linement in the tooth or teeth affected, or by putting a dead person's finger on the tooth, or by smoking a clay-pipe. Comfrey leaves were used for chest trouble. The leaves were also boiled and the juice drunk, this juice is also used to reduce swelling. Red clover was used as treatment for cancer.
    The lily of the valley root was a cure for heart disease. The root was boiled and the juice drunk.
