Long ago the people baked bread different bread, different from the way the people make it at the present. The vessels that were used in making bread were also different.
The different breads made in this district long ago were, oatmeal bread, potato bread, boxty bread and griddle cake.
A griddle was often used for baking oatenmeal bread. A griddle was a flat piece of iron standing on a kind of fork. The oatenmeal bread was mixed with water. This bread was used every day by the people of this district. This bread was very hard to eat that is why the people long ago
