  1. Long ago there were no doctors nore nurses, but the people had cures instead for different diseases. Soem of those cures are used up to the present day.
    The people had cures for, ring worm, fowl mouths, measels, sore throats, and many others.
    If there were seven sons in a home the seventh son would have the cure of ring-worm by putting his hand on the mark. People often travelled miles and miles to be cured.
    "Ferret;s leavings" or the remainder of the milk which a ferret was drinking was known as a cure for whooping cough. Nearly everybody kept a ferret in those days so it was not hard to get the cure of hooping-cough.
