- Food In Olden TimesThey had meat which was called "Veal." They also ate "herrings", they had no vegetables except they set them. It was the goat that first found out the tea-plant. The goat was going away every day and they could not know how she had all the milk. They watched the goat to see what she was eating so they found out it was the tea plant. They started then to use it for tea by boiling it and eating the plant and putting sugar and milk on it. It wasn't the right way they then eat the leaves.
