  1. There is an Upper Carrigans too and Scanlon is the most common name in the two districts.
    Carrigans got its name from all the rocks are are in it. "Carraig" meaning a rock.
    There is an old couple living in the district named John and Mary Healy. They are both over 70. John is a great old story-teller and he can speak a few words of Irish.
