  1. There is a story told about a strange animal that was seen in Ballinacarrow lake about fifty years ago. It had the shape of a horse and it was seen among the reeds one evening when some people were out fishing. It was of a dark brown colour and when it saw the fishers it let a roar and jumped into the lake. It is believed that it was a water horse. Water dogs are seen very often at the same lake.
