    When a person in the West of Ireland meets a funeral, he turns back and walks three paces with the funeral, to show respect for the dead. When the grave is closed in, the relatives cross the grave three times, in order to help them to forget their grief.
    There is an old belief that nothing should go out of the house before the corpse, and if they do, a second death will follow quickly. Clocks are stopped in a corpse house to show that time had
