  1. Long ago when there would be a wedding, men would dress up in straw and they were called "wholpers."
    They would go to house where the wedding would take place and they would ask for a drink and sometimes money. Then they would ask a dance with the bride and would dance her up and down the floor. It is considered lucky for them to come.
