  1. The method used in burning lime is first to collect a quantity of lime stone which is broken up in small pieces. Then a fire of turf is lighted in the kiln and on this fire some broken stones are put each day until the kiln is filled and after a day or two the stones will be burned into lime which is drawn out from a small door at the bottom of the kiln and which is now ready for use.
