  1. The names of the fields on our farm are, "Gurteen", "The Big Field" "Séine Mhór", "The Black field" "The Bush Field" Upper Corrigeen and lower Corrigeen and Darby's Acre.
    "Gurteen" which means the little field contains about four and a half Irish acres of land, but there is a field beside it that contains eight Irish acres and the old people called them these names for distinction. There is a fort in the coner between the two fields.
    Séine Mhór is so called because it is a flat and fairly narrow stretch of land. It contains about ten Irish acres. The Black Field is so called because its clay is black. The clay in all the other fields is red. It adjoins another field called
