  1. Local Heroes
    There was a very strong man named "Russian Walsh", living here. His real name was "Pat Walsh" but he was called the "Russian" because of his strength. He lived in Clohogue and was the best weight thrower in Sligo.
    My grandfather walked to Sligo and when he returned he found he had forgotten his coat. He returned to Sligo, go this coat, and came home all on the same day. This was a journey of sixty miles.
    "James Flynn" and Michael Davey are the best story tellers in this townland. Their stories were about ghosts.
    My uncle "John Rogers" was the best runner in Dublin. There are many good rowers in this district. The Kildea's and Gunnings are among the best in the district. Pat Keaveny was a noted swimmer. He was drowned while swimming Lough Arrow.
    A man named "Caroll" could lift a stone six cwt. weight. On one occasion he was going to Boyle and on
