  1. Local Heroes
    Long ago in this district there were very powerful men at weight throwing.
    One of these men Michael Convey was a very noted weight thrower. He used to win at many local sports. Another good weight thrower was Bernard Cogan of Killadoon. He used to throw a half cwt weight about twenty six feet.
    Two great weight throwers who lived in Clohogue were "Pat and James Walsh". The former was nicknamed "Russian". Walsh for his strength.
    "Andy Mc Donagh" nicknamed "Andy the Walker" was renowned for the distance he could walk. This man lived at Lough Bo and he used to walk to Sligo or Tubbercurry or even Dromahair or Manorhamilton. These towns are all long distances from his house.
    A man called Jim Donagher who lives at Highwood was a very good high jumper. A man called Thomas Meehan who lives at Mountown could jump eighteen feet across a river or trench.
    There were many good boat pullers and swimmers who lived in this vicinity of Lough
