    The markets were usually held in Sligo in the market square but the fairs were held at Ballindoon and Castlebaldwin. These fairs used to last for three or four days.
    Pedlars and hucksters very often visited this district in olden times and people used to keep them to do work. Dealers in feathers and rags visit the district nowadays.
    The various coins were known by different names a pound was called "a quid" a shilling a "bob" sixpence a "tanner" a threepennybit thruppence.
