- Religious StoriesThere were not any stories told about the Mass in this district.I heard about a woman in Ballinafad who put a stone in a box for every Mas she heard. One morning when she was churning she heard the Mass bell ring. She pulled a sheet of the bed, threw it on her and went to Mass. Of cause she put in the stone as usual and when she did there was no stone found in the box only the one she put in it that morning.Poor scholars used to go around and stay a month in each house. They taught the children of the house while they stayed there.There is a story told about a priest in Geevagh who liked shooting. One day while he was shooting a woman told him to go off the land and not to come back again. He said that before long there would not be one of the name in the place and in a short number of years the family through poverty had to sell the place(continues on next page)
