made through the mountains. These replace old worn paths and tracks.
During the time of the battle of the Curlius there was not any bridge at Annagh and when Hugh O'Donnell was marching to the battle of the Curlius all the fishes in the lake gathered to the bridge and made a bridge for them and Hugh and his army walked across on the fishes. So the local saying goes.
There is a mass path in Highwood and the priest went by this when he was going to Moytura to read mass. A light is seen on the path when anyone is going to die in the parish of Highwood.
There are not any dances held at the cross-roads here now, but some time ago it was the custom. The people light fires at the cross-roads on bonfire night and the young people play pitch and toss on Sunday there.

My home is situated in the townland of Cartronavalley in the parish of Geevagh. The name of the barony in which it is situated is Tirerill. There are three famillies living in this townland namely the Martin family, the Donagher family and the Lang family
