Other games played by children are “Fish in the pan”, “Hounds and Hares” and “Hide and go Seek” “Fish in the pan” is played like “ring a rosy” but one child stays in the middle with his eyes closed and catches some one. He then joins the ring and the one whom he catches has to go in the middle.
Hounds and hares is played by some children hiding and others searching for them. If they get them they will run after them and try to catch them.
Hide and go seek is played by some children running and hiding and others trying to find out where they are. Lord Duke Lord John is played by an number of children catching hands and making a long chain. The two strongest of them catch each others hands and hold them up high so that the others can pass under them. Each of these two children adopt a password. All the other children pass out under their hands until they come to the last one. This one is held up and asked which password he will say. He then will say one of the passwords and he then will take sides with one or other of the leaders. The leaders then face each other catching hands. Their supporters catch the waist of each leader and so on in a long line. They then pull and pull and which ever one is able to overthrow the other has won.
