- My district is a district of may queer place names such as "Cloongad" which means the meadow of the "Gad" or rope made from a certain weed with which they used to hang the people long ago.
John Lyons Grayfort has fields with strange names. One "Thornafulla" the "field of blood" which is reputed as being the scene of a battle fought there hundreds of years ago. Another field is called "Sean Willy".
In the townland of Brickeen there is a field called "Parcnamnan" long ago the football matches were held there.
