About a hundred years ago there were nine Catholic families and seven Protestant families living in Drumore. There were 180 acres of land in it. The people had farms of nine and sixteen acres. The Catholics used to let a weed called buachall an oige grow in the corner of the thatch. They said that anyone who would not let this weed grow that they would have no son in the family to maintain the name. They had a great many superstitions. One of them was not to give away money on New Year's Day.
