    Om May Day people throw May flowers about the doors.
    On St. John's Night people light big bonfires and dance about them. When the fire is nearly quenched someone jumps across it.
    On St. Martin's Day people think it unlucky to work machinery. Some people spill blood.
    On Halloween night there is a big feast in every house. people eat all kinds of nuts. The children lift money and apples out of a basin of water with their mouths. There is a special cake made and several things are put into it. There is a ring, a nut, a button and a thimble put in it.
