    Kilkare is situated in the Parish of Kilmactranny and in the Barony of Tirerill. Cill Céir is the Irish name for Kilkare and that means St. Kiar's Church. It contains 154 statue acres 16 of which is bog, 29 of rough pasture and 12 of water. It produces pretty good crops.
