    On Saint Patrick's Day people wear shamrocks in honour of St. Patrick.
    On 1st February people make a cross of straw and nail it to the ceiling until that day twelve-months in honour of St. Brighid.
    No water is thrown out on New Year's Day.
    On St. Martin's Day people kill a fowl and sprinkle the blood on the jamb of the door in honour of St. Martin.
