  1. Generally the time of year for getting married is Seraft which occurs between Christmas and Shrove Tuesday which is the day before Ash Wednesday. The luckiest days are Monday, Thursday and Shrove Tuesday. The boys or girls who are not married before this day are boycotted by a crowd of young boys who tie a string around them and drag them up and down the street or road.
    Usually there is a match before the boy or girl is married. Some man goes and asks the girls father for his consent to the marriage of his daughter to some man. Then it is reckoned how much money will the man have to give to the other man. This is known as
