  1. The farmers of long ago had to work very hard. The had to turn the land for the potatoes with an iron loy and the had to turn an acre or two with it.
    They used to mow their meadow with scythes and the had to mow all their meadow in that way. All the men and wemon of the country were very strong that time because the used to eat porridge and milk and that was why the were able to work so hard. The used to cut their oats with hooks.
    They had every sort of seeds long ago rye, flax, etc. Rye was like barley and the people of the country used to make bread out of it, and Rye would not grow any place only in the bog.
    The farmers of the country grew rye long ago and the would save it the same as barley or oats. Flax would grow no place only in the
