  1. Long ago the old people used to say that other people used to take their butter by means of being in communication with the devil. It used to be said that if a man came in when the churning would be going on and take a sod of turf out of the fire and throw it into a well that all the butter will be on the persons churning that did the trick. It was not right for the people to be doing this.
