  1. Long ago there lived a king in Carton by the name of McGarry and there lived another in Ballymote by the name of McDonnagh. One day a wedding took place in Cartron and McDonnagh was asked to it. When the supper was going on McDonnagh was left in the corner because he was bling and he was not brought to supper at all. This made McDonnagh very vexed and he went up to Ballymote on horseback with another man. He gathered an army and came down to fight the Cartron king. McGarry fled in for Markrea Castle but he was killed going across a ford at the river. He was brought back to his castle and his head was cut off and hung on a spike in the castle.
