  1. Bessy Burke used to make ointment for sore eyes she used to pick herbs and pound them and mix them with butter.
    Warts are cured by rubbing on them the entrails of a black snail. Then put them into a match-box and by the time the entrails are withered the wart will have disappeared.
    The sting of a nettle is cured by putting a dock leaf on the affected part for five minutes.
    A person who licks a man-keeper when young has the cure for a burn. They when any one gets a burn the person who has the cure licks the burn and says certain prayers afterwards over the burned part.
    A hiccough is cured by a good fright, and also by taking a drink of cold water.
    An old cure for cuts was to let a dog lick them and then the sore would heal up quickly.
