The lapwings build on the ground. They lay four or five bluish eggs with spots of brown on them. They are the same colour as the place which they are (layed) laid. The young birds also are the same colour as their surroundings so that it is very hard to see them.
They call "peewit" "peewit". They are sometimes called plover or plibeen or peewit. - A ferret is given a drink of milk but he is not allowed to finish it. The amount that is left is called "ferret's leavings". This is given as a cure for measles.(continues on next page)
