On which it is said that the old people travelled to Sligo market with sacks of grain.
Amongst those noted mowers were the late William Jinks and James Milmoe of Ardneaskin, Coolbock Barony of Corran and parish of Riverstown. They could mow one acre per day. The noted dancers of the old days were the late James O'Hara, Charles Dolan and John Mulligan of Lackagh. The latter now resides in Dublin. The two former lived in the Barony of Corran, Parish of Ballysadare Co. Sligo, they are now dead.

In olden times when small boats used to call at Ballyadare...

In olden times when small boats used to call at Ballysadare man named Patrick McCoy Ballysadare Barony of Tiremill, used to load potatoes at the pier. One day the boat had started off before he had time to put on the last bag. All those bags were 21/2 cwt. weight and he threw the bag from the pier to the boat and it in motion.
Two others in my district are Bartly Flynn of Glann, Parish of Ballysadare and Patrick Tymond of Knockbeg, Parish of Ballysadare Barony of Tiremill, both left Sligo, on one occasion by foot and walked to Derry at the rate of six miles per hour.
Another local man was Healy of Ballysodare who used to carry 1/2 ton of hay on his back from Caronmada near Ballysadare to the market in Sligo a distance of four miles.
