  1. This strand is frequently mentioned in Irish History and to historians is as familiar as the strand of Malahide in Clontarf. It is quite adjacent to this school and in fact we have a good view of it from our doors.
    It is three miles west of Ballisodare.
    Until about 80 years ago it was a square mile in extent at low tide and the regular roads both East and West and North and South crossed this strand.
