- The care of our farm animals.Nearly everyone has some animal at home. We have three cows, a horse and two goats.
We milk the cows every morning and night. We put them out of the cow-house in the day but we leave them in the house at night in the Winter. We have a big house for them. There is a division between each cow, and there is a chain to which they are tied.
We have about a hundred hens, seventeed ducks, and twenty turkeys. When we are feeding the fowl we call them "chuchí, chuchí." We call the ducks with the words "tweet, tweet". The turkeys are very hard to hear. When they are hatched they are fed with hard boiled eggs. Then they are given boiled nettles mixed with oatmeal porridge.Bridget Harrington.
