    In this district long ago sheep were not raised locally to supply the spinning wheels with wool. It was bought in bagfuls from those who reared sheep. The wool was cleaned thorougly of little sticks and dirt after which it was teased finely with the fingers.
    A certain oil called rape oil was shaken on the wool after which it was carded. [illustration of card inserted] Two cards covered with crooked, wire teeth were got. The wool was left on one card and rubbed with the other, each way until it looked fine and
