    I
    I am a bold evicted Irish lad,
    With grief my heart is full.
    I once lived free and happy
    Around you Carrownaboll.
    It was with my parents old and grey
    Some happy days I seen.
    Ere I was forced to bid adieu
    To the loftly hills round Skreen.
    II
    I sailed to Castle Garden on the 14th of May
    In hopes to seek a better hood in wild America.
    But now I have gold and riches
    and no happines I have seen,
    I long to bid a fair adiue,
    to the loftly hills round Skreen.

    I have read the Sligo Champion
    Sent by a friend of mine.
    And he says the light of freedom
    Will soon on Ireland shine
