  1. (5) There was an old school in the townland of Corkhill, Skreen, where Mrs Berry now lives. The teacher of this school was the famous Mr. Thady Conlon. He was a clever teacher. He taught Irish, English and Arithmetic. He also taught Latin and Greek The pupils of this school used stones with bits of boards on top of them for seats. This was the time when the Reformation was in full swing and Mr. Thady turned for gain. The Bible was handed round from house to house but it was printed in English and the people did not understand it. Then Mr. Thady thought of a plan that he would make money on. He began to translate the
