  1. The Gentleman and the Carman
    (5) Once upon a time a gentleman employed a man to drive him round the country on a sidecar, for the day.
When they were going along the road they came to a pool of water on the side of the road. Then the gentleman asked the carman is that pool of water deep.
The carman said it is sir, for last summer a man went in to have a bathe and he sank and sank until he landed in Australia. After a few weeks his people had a letter from him telling them to send him on his clothes. So you see it must be very deep.
