    AN OLD SCHOOL
Three hundred years ago there was an old hedge school in Carra. It was built with clay and roofed with wattles and it had the look of poverty.
The pupils who attended this school had nothing to sit on but little stools. The floor was made of huge cobble-stones.
The pupils were taught reading, writing , arithmetic, and Irish.
In summer-time they picked bill-berries and cran-berries in the bog nearby and made ink out of them.
A man taught in this school but I do not know his name
