  1. In the penal days in the townland of Cloonkeelane there stood an old school. It was situated in a field belonging to a man named P. Kilcullen.
    In this school two teachers taught the children of the neighbouring townlands the Irish language. those teachers were Miss Kingston and Miss Farrell.
    However, one day, when the English soldiers were passing by this school they banished the teachers and children, and knocked down the school.
    Miss Kingston and Miss Farrell then went to Rathwany and founded another
