Saturday is counted an unlucky day for marriage.
If a bride gets a shower of snow on her way home it is considered a lucky omen. It is also a custom that the bride is not to visit her parents' house for a month after the marriage.

In the townland of Carns about a hundred years ago a young couple got married. Their names were Maria Mc Guinness and Mick Colman.
On the evening of the marriage Mick rode to Maria's house accompanied by his friends on their horses. Mick's horse's mane was plaited and tied with white
