    The People of the District
The people of this district are either Protestants or Catholics. The Protestants live in the good land beside the Moy. They are the descendants of the Cromwellian settlers. Their names are Ormsby, Blakeny, Boyel and Bolleston. The Catholics live in thatched houses towards the mountain. During the last few years they have built slated houses and have bought some of the good land and are comfortable. The commonest names are; Howley, Barrins and Foody. In the northeast of this parish there are some peculiar names such as; Wright, Best, Swift and Maye.
