Another cure was mashed turnip and sugar. This was used as vaseline.
Another cure was a chopped onion mixed with loaf poultice. This was supposed to cleanse a poisoned wound.
Goats milk was supposed to be good for consumption.
If a person took a stye on his eye, he gathered ten thorns off the gooseberry bush, pointed nine to the stye, and threw the tenth away.
